Our Neighbourhood

Our Edinburgh hotel lies within the Edinburgh UNESCO World Heritage site and occupies five original Georgian townhouses just moments from both Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle.

Our Edinburgh hotel has preserved many of the original features including decorative stairwells and a unique cupola. The chic and contemporary interior reflects the life and vibrancy of Edinburgh today. There are 60 individual bedrooms and junior suites to choose from at our boutique hotel in Edinburgh and our regular guests have their firm favourites. Each guestroom at our Edinburgh city centre hotel is individually decorated reflecting the neighbourhood story with details of Edinburgh’s rich history and Summer Festival traditions.

Everything is on the doorstep! Our Edinburgh hotel is ideally located for the Royal Mile, Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle.

Enjoy a visit to the Scottish National Gallery, the Scottish Poetry Library and we can help you get tickets for the latest shows at the Edinburgh Playhouse. We really like the Scottish Storytelling Centre because here at Hotel Indigo we have our own proud tradition of storytelling.
Edinburgh is a city of festivals and we are home to the world’s most amazing celebrations of music, comedy, literature and art. These festivals have been the launchpad for some of the most celebrated talent and every visitor finds something to intrigue, amaze and delight them about Edinburgh and our Edinburgh hotel is right in the centre of it all!

Illustration of Literature
Edinburgh Architecture

Our street in the centre of Edinburgh is the birthplace of Arthur Conan Doyle who gripped six successive generations
with histales of Sherlock Holmes.

While author Robert Louis Stevenson, renowned for his book Treasure Island grew up around the corner and Alexander McCall Smith chose to set his 44 Scotland Street Novels just a short walk away from the Edinburgh hotel. If you are keen on exploring literary connections, you must visit The Elephant House on the George IV Bridge where JK Rowling would sit with a coffee and her laptop writing her brilliant Harry Potter books. Apparently, Ian Rankin and Alexander McCall Smith are keen fans as well.
We are famous for our hospitality here in Scotland and you won’t be disappointed with our collection of whiskies and gins in the bar.
